New Ground Cafe, Gardenstown

This is a pleasant and some unusual café in Gardenstown.
It provides a range of snacks and hot drinks.
Please note that the opening times are a bit limited - I have been on a couple of weekend days, when it was not open until 12.
As the name implies, it also serves as an art gallery, and has some some stuff to sell.
If you're in Gardenstown, I recommend a couple of short walks - one to Crovie, and the other one along the beach and then up the path to the remains of St John's church, from where the view is stunning.

The Wallingford Bookshop 10c St Martin's Street, Wallingford Oxon. OX10 0AL

A lovely independent bookshop in a quiet little historic market town on the River Thames; the staff are friendly and cheerful, knowledgeable and able to obtain ordered books much faster than most large chains. Absolutely no piped music, although the staff confess to bursting into the odd refrain when feeling particularly happy.

The Vale Hotel and Restaurant, Fyvie, Aberdeenshire

My wife and I ate visited this restaurant with some friends three times, twice for meals and once just for coffee liqueurs. I also had two breakfasts.
The restaurant was music free for two nights. On the third night there was some loud music for a few minutes, but this was turned off (not at our request). There was no music at breakfast. There is a television in the bar, but this was not noticeable when I was there.
There is a good range of food.
Please note that the hotel is on the main road through the village, but also pretty close to the A947, so you can get some road noise.

The Lock Team Room at Heybridge Basin

I can’t give much of a review of this place, as this is a second hand review – my wife was there and had a nice lunch with no music - http://trooms.com/goto.php?ref=y&sess=+A5E5146191D51+F18435A52+9+B581D10....
It looks like it has a waterfront view.
From their website, it looks like there are some other team rooms in the group in Essex.

Harp Covent Garden

Very close to Covent Garden. The pub's emphasis is firmly on real ale, real cider and real conversation, with 10 hand pumps on the bar serving a great selection of beers. It's a place to meet friends and make friends. Latest check 22 August 2017.

The James Joyce/Italo Svevo Museum, Trieste, Italy

Trieste is a fine city of the Belle Epoque, looking better than ever after recent refurbishments. Unfortunately, it also appears to be filled with piped music, which infests every café, restaurant, bar and indeed street with hellish cacophony. This makes oases of calm even more welcome. Doubly welcome is one that commemorates two of its greatest residents.

La Caleta Restaurant

A great FISH restaurant. Facing the sea at the Arenal beach, take the coastal road to the right not quite all the way to the end (Cala Blanca) - be sure to keep the sea on your left at all times - and you will find the restaurant on the left side, over a white wall and situate right on the rocks by the water. Does one need to say more of such a beautiful location ? Well ..... excellent fish - good service - not cheap BUT you must book (at weekend at least 24 hours in advance). Plenty of shade and NO PIPED MUSIC - just listen to the sea !!

Ristorante Ribot: a quiet and good restaurant in Venice:

Decent restaurants are notoriously hard to find in Venice; quiet restaurants are even rarer, as most places seem filled with piped music. This makes the Ristorante Ribot even more of a find for it is a seriously good restaurant - though it's not cheap, even by Venetian prices. Located in the Santa Croce district, on a quiet canal near the train and bus station, it has a pleasant courtyard garden. Here Italians come to eat proper Italian meals. Dishes such as 'sardines “in saor ” and creamed cod with polenta' or black hand-made tagliatelle with scampi and julienne of zucchini are typical.
