1. Information about you

1.1 The only personal information that we hold is for registered contributors to the site. That information is limited to e-mail, first and last name, and the user-name given when the account was set up. What will appear on reviews and comments is a nickname. By default, your nickname is your user-name.  Your e-mail address is held securely and is never visible on the site. You can views and edit all your personal data except for your user-name, which is fixed and your password, which is not held anywhere on the site.

1.2 Your location and Google: On loading our home-page, the site requests your position from the browser using its Geolocation API. This is so that your browser can load a map centred on it thinks you are. The browser will check whether you have already consented to or blocked such requests for web pages originating from  quietcorners.org.uk. That consent or refusal is accessible via your browser’s privacy settings and is sought the first time you open our home-page. The details of how your browser handles such requests are browser specific but the  Mozilla Firefox explanation is typical. The request does not identify you, but it often sends your computer’s IP address and the names of nearby wireless access points to determine your position.  Your latitude and longitude information never arrives at the Quiet Corners web servers but is used immediately by your browser to construct a request to Google to furnish a map centred on the right latitude and longitude, just as it does when it gets the maps for individual review pages.

2.Our use of this information

The only use that we will make of your e-mail information held on the Quiet Corners site is to e-mail you about the site.

2.2 We will not share your personal  information held on this site with anybody. Any change in this rule would require your specific consent.
