I highly recommended for B & B the Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre www.woodbrooke.org.uk. For a mere £46 I recently stayed for one night in a lovely quiet room ensuite, simple but very comfortable. The elegant house used to be the home of one of the great Cadbury magnates and has the most beautiiful gardens, not very big but encompassing trees, a walled garden, lawns, a small lake, streams and woodland all carefully tended to encourage wildlife. I heard no piped music in my time there and would be surprised if they use it but you could check by phone beforehand just in case. The staff were welcoming and the food good and what I loved most was the serene atmosphere. It is situated near Selly Oak, not far from Birmingham.
