Owned by the same family of excellent brewers since its inception, this chain has 32 generally very traditional pubs (in London and Edinburgh as well as its native Yorkshire). It made history in 2004 by banning all piped music, partly because of the costs of paying licence fees to the Performing Rights Society. (All public places – shops, hotels, restaurants etc – should pay these fees, though some do not.) Samuel Smiths has just won a CAMRA award for refurbishing the Princess Louise in High Holborn, London, while keeping intact the maze of Victorian snug bars.
N.B. The map entry shows just one Sam Smiths pub. For the time being, please use their website to find others. If you are a member, please help us by paying a visit and posting a review!
See this website as Sam Smiths abhors advertising of any sort.
