Tattenbach Restaurant, Munich, a real find

It may seem odd to list a restaurant so popular that it gets noisy, but the Tattenbach is filled with the right ┬ánoise for a restaurant: of people talking, laughing, drinking, eating, enjoying themselves. Its decor looks unchanged since Faust was a boy (but must be much newer), the menu is Bavarian but not hidebound – try their duck or roast beef – and the beer is excellent and even cheaper than the food. Very friendly staff who work like mad and speak English. Tables outside in a quiet street offer a calmer option. Open 11 to 11 most days. Do book. Tel 089/2252 68
